Biarritz is a peaceful haven located between the Pyrenees Mountains and the Atlantic Ocean. Originally a quaint fishing village, until the end of 19th century when Napoleon III and the empress Eugenie fell in love with the regions natural beauty, Biarritz rapidly became a fashionable, refined sea side resort. This era brought a prestigious clientele to the town and hence considerably developed its architecture, elegant buildings, casinos and palaces that today form the town's reputation.

In 1957, Biarritz welcomed its first surfers from the European continent and today has become a renowned "surfers paradise" thanks to its long sandy beaches and mild climate all year round.

How to arrive

Biarritz is served by A10 autoroute linking Paris to Spain, 5 hours by train from Paris and the airport offers numerous flights every week to main cities of France, London Stansted, Geneva, Shannon, Dublin and Frankfurt.

For those staying with host families they will automatically be welcomed by a member of the family at the airport or train station. Those staying at a residence-apartment or hotel must go by their own means to their chosen accommodation either (bus, taxi…).
