The city

Cambridge, located to the north east of London, is a very old university town. Although the small size of the town (approx. 130.000 inhabitants) there is a lot to do. There are many places to visit in the city but you can also visit other cities like London. The inhabitants are relatively young, as there are more than 22.000 students. Cambridge is renown for its universities. Together with oxford it has one of the best universities in the United Kingdom. Therefore many students study there. It is also a popular destination for foreigners to learn the English language.

There are two football clubs you could watch during their matches. They don’t play in the Premier League but it’s quite entertaining. If you prefer watching a more typical British sport then rugby might be a better option. By going to these kind of events, you will learn more about the English culture and habits.
During the evening or night you can enjoy plays in one of the theatres or watch a movie in a cinema. If you want to go out even later you will enjoy the many bars or nightclubs. Please note that the nightlife starts quite early, most clubs open before 10pm and close at 2pm. Although the clubs close early, the nightlife is very exciting and vibrant.
