A first glimpse of the city is love at first sight and will entice you to come back and explore it thoroughly. For the past two thousand years and more, the city walls have been enclosing a unique and breathtaking range of art-works and monuments. Recently awarded with the status of "World Heritage Site", Verona has delighted painters, poets, travellers and celebrities for centuries. Verona is a work of art in itself: a fascinating cross-roads of historical periods and cultures (both classical and Germanic), a blend of both Nordic and "Mediterranean" influences; the city is at the same time both ancient and modern. Verona is a city to discover walking through its narrow streets in order to get in touch with its varied and two thousand years history: traces of its splendid Roman origins, its prevailing medieval structure, its magnificent Renaissance buildings as well as the impressive fortifications which protect it. A suggestive blend of art and history which continuously recalls the romantic love history of Romeo and Juliet as it was written by William Shakespeare.

The city offers many artistic and cultural events like FESTIVAL DELL’OPERA LIRICA at Arena, FESTIVAL SHAKESPEARIANO, VERONA JAZZ at Teatro Romano and FESTIVAL INTERNAZIONALE DEL CINEMA “SCHERMI D’AMORE” at Teatro Filarmonico. There are many chances to practise sports: canoeing on Fiume Adige, skiing and climbing on the Dolomites, sailing and windsurfing on Lago di Garda, mountain bike and horse riding on the hills of Valpolicella and Soave, jogging and walking in Lessiniapark. Along with its international spirit, Verona has been able to preserve its traditions and local food products: some of the best known wines (Soave, Bardolino, Amarone, Valpolicella, Custoza), and related events like Vinitaly, the world-leading exhibition in the wine sector; olive oil and SOL, the International Exhibition of Quality Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
